Visit of Dr. Sumedha Chakma, IIT Delhi, to the Civil Engineering Department, NITM

(Dr.) Mahendra M. Civil Engineering Departmnet, IIT Hyderabad NIT Meghalaya delivered a guest lecture on “Sustainable Steel Structure Construction” on 16.03.2026 to the students, scholars of Civil Engineering Department NIT Meghalaya. The importance of sustainable construction using steel was emphasized during the talk. He also highlighted the need to ensure ductile design for seismic and wind applications. The need for higher education (research, PhD) for NIT-level students and the opportunities available at IIT Hyderabad were also presented.
