Notification M.Sc Institute mode 2026

Applications are invited for admission to the M. Sc (Institute Mode) Programme starting in August, 2026 (Autumn Semester-2026) s as follows:

Admission to M.Sc (Institute Mode) Programme: The Vacant Seats (if any) after the completion of CCMN final rounds admission, shall be filled through Institute Mode entrance examination for JAM / Non-JAM candidates. The selection procedure are as under:

 1. Admission Route and Seat Status

Vacancy Filling: Any vacant seats after CCMN shall be filled through Institute-level admission mode.

            o This shall not affect the sanctioned CCMN seat matrix and will be separately reported to the Academic Office and included in the Senate reporting of admissions.

2. Eligibility:

            Admission to M.Sc. (Institute Mode) Programme:

  1. Through Institute Mode: The vacant seats after CCMN 2026 counselling will be filled through Institute mode.

 

2. Eligibility Criteria for Admission into M.Sc. Programme:

     • M.Sc. in Chemistry: Must have Chemistry as Honours/Major/Pass in B. Sc/BS/B.Sc.Ed with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.

     • M.Sc. in Mathematics: Must have Mathematics or Statistics as Honours/Major in B.Sc. with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST and PwD candidates in UG. Mathematics is compulsory in UG and 10+2 level

     • M.Sc. in Physics: B.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics (Honours/Pass) or in Electronics (Honours/Major) with Physics minor with Mathematics as one of the subsidiaries in B.Sc. Must have 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level. Physics and Mathematics subjects are compulsory for those candidates from B.Sc.Ed., B. S., B. E./B. Tech, B. Sc. including Applied Sciences and BioPhysics background.

 

In case, result of qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission will be permitted to a candidate subject to meeting above minimum academic requirements latest by September 2026. The Institute reserves the right to cancel admission due to non-fulfillment of eligibility criteria mentioned above.

 

How to Apply:

STEP-I: Candidates are advised to make the application fee payment as per category (500/- for SC/ST, ₹1000/ for others, and no fee for PWD & Women candidates).

STEP-II: Fill the online application form. After submission, print out of the online application form has to be sent by email along with all supporting documents via google form link.

STEP:-1: Instructions for Payment Process using State Bank Collect (SBI Collect):

  1. Click on “Make Payment using SBI Collect” below.

Online SBI Collect

  1. A DISCLAIMER CLAUSE page will open. Check the box for I have read and accepted the terms and conditions stated above and click on the PROCEED button.
  2. From the drop down menu, State of Corporate/Institution, select Meghalaya.
  3. From the drop down menu, Type of Corporate/Institution, select Educational Institutions. Click on the GO button.
  4. From the drop down menu, Educational Institutions Name, select NIT MEGHALAYA FEE COLLECTION. Click on the SUBMIT button.
  5. A page for details of payment will open. Under Select Payment Category, select APPLICATION FEES.
  6. Please read the complete page carefully.
  7. A page to verify details and confirm this transaction will appear. Click on the CONFIRM button if your details are correct.
  8. You will be directed to payment page
  9. Complete the payment process by selecting the mode of payment that you wish
  10. Save Reference number and date of payment for filling the online Application.

STEP II: Submission online Application Form:

  1. Click on the online application form link, Application form
  2. If a candidate is applying for more than one department, the candidate must pay application fees separately and choose the desired departments/category in the online application form.
  3. Candidates are advised to check the application in all aspects before pressing the submit button. Once the application is submitted, it cannot be modified.
  4. Incomplete application, application received without Payment Receipt or without the academic documents as stated below shall be summarily rejected without any explanation.
  5. Please email your documents only from the email entered in the form. The document should be scanned (not a photo), properly oriented and arranged in the order given below:
  1. Application fee receipt
  2. Proof of date of birth
  3. Educational qualifications, mark sheets and certificates in line with the filled online application form.
  4. Finally, save a copy of the generated online form for submitting as mentioned below.
    The generated online form along with soft copy of the documents mentioned at pt 5 should be emailed to pgadmission@nitm.ac.in, subject of the mail should be “M. Sc application form of (Your Name), (Dept.  applied)”.
