Applications are invited for admission to the M.Tech (Institute Mode) Programme starting in August, 2026 (Autumn Semester-2026) under Full Time and Sponsored (Part-Time) categories as follows:

Admission to M.Tech. (Institute Mode) Programme: The Vacant Seats (if any) after the completion  of CCMT final rounds admission, shall be filled through Institute Mode entrance examination for GATE / Non-GATE candidates. The selection procedure are as under:

1. Admission Route and Seat Status

            • Vacancy Filling: Any vacant seats after CCMT shall be filled through the Institute-level admission mode.

            • Direct Admission Route: In addition to the CCMT and Institute mode, direct admission to NIT Meghalaya’s B.Tech graduates will be permitted under the following conditions:

            o Seats under direct admission to NIT Meghalaya B.Tech graduates shall be considered over and above the approved intake per PG.

            o This shall not affect the sanctioned CCMT seat matrix and will be separately reported to the Academic Office and included in the Senate reporting of admissions.

2. Eligibility:

       a) M.Tech (Full-Time) through Institute Mode:

• M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering: Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.
• M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Fluids and Thermal Engineering): Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.
• M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineering): Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.
• M.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Power and Energy Systems): Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.
• M.Tech in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering): Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.
• M.Tech in Civil Engineering E (Environmental Engineering): Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.
•  M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (VLSI and Embedded Systems): Must have B.E./B.Tech in relevant branch, with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.

b) M.Tech Sponsored (Full-Time):

Eligible candidates working nearby the feasible location can apply for the Programme, which is sponsored by an industry of repute/ R&D organization/ higher academic institution/government organization. They must have two years of regular experience in the current organization after completion of B.E/B.Tech or equivalent, as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ technical staff etc, in the discipline for which admission is sought for in the M. Tech Programme on a full-time basis. The candidates under this category shall have to avail a minimum 1-year leave from the duration of the course work of M.Tech Programme from the parent organization for attending the classes as a regular student of the institute.

c) M.Tech Sponsored (Part-Time):

i. Candidate under this Programme should be a professional, including staff of NIT Meghalaya/employee from R&D organization /higher education institution within Meghalaya. He/She must have two years of regular experience in the current organization after completion of B.E/B.Tech or equivalent, as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ technical staff etc. in the discipline for which admission is sought.

ii. The sponsored candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with the minimum CGPA/percentage obtained in the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology to be set at 6 CGPA or 55% or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks (6.5 CGPA) in the appropriate discipline of science or equivalent. Relaxation of 5% marks / 0.5 CGPA is applicable for SC/ST/PWD candidates. GATE qualification shall not be essential for taking admission into the Programme.

iii. The sponsored candidates should produce a sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format certified by the employer to get admitted into M.Tech Sponsored (Full-time) Programme.

iv. The sponsored candidate’s age should not be more than 45 years.

d) M.Tech (Full Time) through final year/pass out B.Tech Students of NIT Meghalaya: Direct provision without entrance exam for final-year/pass out B.Tech students of NIT Meghalaya to enrol in M.Tech programme. Minimum CGPA requirement for these applicants will be 7 CGPA for Gen & OBC category and 6.5 CGPA for SC & ST category without any backlog in B.Tech. programme.

How to Apply:

STEP-I: Candidates are advised to make the application fee payment as per category (₹500/- for SC/ST, ₹1000/ for others, and no fee for PWD & Women candidates).

STEP-II: Fill the online application form. After submission, print out of the online application form has to be sent by email along with all supporting documents via google form link.

STEP:-1: Instructions for Payment Process using State Bank Collect (SBI Collect):

1. Click on “Make Payment using SBI Collect” below.

1. A DISCLAIMER CLAUSE page will open. Check the box for I have read and accepted the terms and conditions stated above and click on the PROCEED button.
2. From the drop down menu, State of Corporate/Institution, select Meghalaya.
3. From the drop down menu, Type of Corporate/Institution, select Educational Institutions. Click on the GO button.
4. From the drop down menu, Educational Institutions Name, select NIT MEGHALAYA FEE COLLECTION. Click on the SUBMIT button.
5. A page for details of payment will open. Under Select Payment Category, select APPLICATION FEES.
6. Please read the complete page carefully.
7. A page to verify details and confirm this transaction will appear. Click on the CONFIRM button if your details are correct.
8. You will be directed to payment page
9. Complete the payment process by selecting the mode of payment that you wish
10. Save Reference number and date of payment for filling the online Application.

STEP II: Submission of online Application Form:

1. Click on the online application form link, Application Form
2. If a candidate is applying for more than one department or more than one category (full time or part time), the candidate must pay application fees separately and choose the desired departments/category in the online application form.
3. Candidates are advised to check the application in all aspects before pressing the submit button. Once the application is submitted, it cannot be modified.
4. Incomplete application, application received without Payment Receipt or without the academic documents as stated below shall be summarily rejected without any explanation.
5. Please email your documents only from the email entered in the form. The document should be scanned (not a photo), properly oriented and arranged in the order given below:
   • Application fee receipt
   • Proof of date of birth
   • Educational qualifications, mark sheets and certificates in line with the filled online application form.
   • Finally, save a copy of the generated online form for submitting as mentioned below.
6. The generated online form along with soft copy of the documents mentioned at pt 5 should be emailed to pgadmission@nitm.ac.in, subject of the mail should be “M. Tech application form of (Your Name), (Dept.  applied) for (Full Time/Part Time)”.
