Engineer’s Day Celebration on 15 September 2026

The IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapter (SBC), NIT Meghalaya, organized an Engineer’s Day Celebration on 15 September 2026 at NIT Meghalaya, Sohra, to commemorate the contributions of engineers and promote technical and extracurricular engagement among students. The program commenced in the morning with a plantation drive, encouraging environmental awareness and sustainability among the participants.

The formal program began with a welcome address by the student coordinator, followed by a welcome speech by the Dr. Piyush Pratap Singh, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering. A distinguished lecture by Dr. Ravita Lamba was then conducted on “Intelligent Learning-Based Predictive Control for Energy Management in Multi-Source DC Microgrids” at the Block A Meeting Room. The lecture discussed intelligent predictive control for coordinating renewable energy sources, battery energy storage systems, and controllable loads to achieve efficient power management and stable DC-bus voltage regulation. The session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

The program further featured a technical talk by Dr. Sanjoy Debbarma on “Benefits of IEEE and Its Society Membership,” followed by quiz and problem-solving competitions for the participants. The celebration concluded with student cultural activities and dinner, providing an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and strengthen interaction among the distinguished lecture speaker, departmental faculty, research scholars, masters and bachelor students. The event was attended by 50+ participants, including 20 IEEE members and 30+ non-IEEE members.
