Candidates provisionally shortlisted for the screening test and /or interview for admission to the PhD Programme under Full Time & Sponsored (Part Time) Category, Spring 2026 Session

Based on the online applications received, the shortlisted candidates are called to appearing the written test and/or interview on the following date and time.

Screening Test (full time only) for all Departments

20th – 21st January 2026

Reporting at the Institute – 10:00 am

Venue:  National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, Permanent Campus, Saitsohpen, Sohra – 793108, Meghalaya.

Interview (Both full time and part time)  for all Departments (in-person)

20th – 21st January 2026

Reporting at the Institute – 10:00 am

Instructions to candidates

  1. Instructions and other guidelines including the time and room allotted for the written test and interview will be communicated by the department concerned, the same will also be displayed on the noticeboard placed in front of the administrative block of the Institute. The candidates may also be contacted by email from the concerned departments; hence, candidates are required to check their email frequently for updates.
  2. All candidates will have to undergo a document verification process which will be conducted by the concerned department. The room allotment for the Document Verification process will be informed by the department. Only after successful verification of documents, the candidates will be allowed to proceed to the written test/interview.
  3. The candidates must bring the PhD Summary Sheet (Attached in enclosure), application fee payment proof (if applicable), all the original and one set of photocopies of their credentials (caste/EWS/PWD etc), marksheets, NOCs & experience certificates (for part time candidates), ID proof and other relevant documents for producing during the document verification process.
  4. Only candidates shortlisted after the written test will be called for the interview for full-time positions.
  5. Sponsored (Part-time) candidates may be called directly for interview.
  6. Candidates must be present as per the allotted date and time. Request for rescheduling the written test or interview date or time will not be entertained.
  7. Candidates should fill the summary sheet and submit during the document verification process.
  8. (i) Local transport is available from Shillong to Sohra NIT Meghalaya campus. 
    (ii)( Accommodation will be provided to the shortlisted candidates based on availability and prior information (earliest available Check-in 19th January 2026). The candidates need to fill the form for accommodation. Institute shall not be responsible if accommodation is not available.

  9. Semester will be starting as per academic calendar and accordingly scholarship of eligible candidate will be processed.
  10. Admission process of selected candidates must be completed on 23rd January 2026.

  12. If admission is not confirmed by the candidate within the said period then waitlisted candidates shall be called for admission as applicable department wise.
  13. TA/DA will not be paid to the candidates appearing for the written test and Interview.
