National Institute of Technology Meghalaya invites applications for Professor of Practice  (PoP) from reputed industries, R&D Institutions, National/International Institutes/ Universities. The aim of this position is to promote excellence in teaching, research, development Institution-Industry networks and to facilitate interactions.

• Design, Development and offer contextual market-need based courses.
• Mentoring students to take-up innovative and enterprising projects.
• Connect students to appropriate industry and stakeholders.
• Create opportunities and develop institute-industry collaborations.
• Explore, Develop and create Research Ecosystem and fetch funded projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eminent persons from the industry or R&D organizations can be engaged as Professors of Practice, who would be expected to spend full time in the Institute, help to enrich the experience of students by bringing deep understanding and appreciation of the best practices as applied in real world settings in a particular field of study. Additionally, they would help promote the integration of academic scholarships with the practical experience of professionals in a given field.

Candidates should have reasonable (minimum 15) years of technical, managerial or professional experience. They should have at least a bachelor degree in Engineering or Master's degree in Engineering/Sciences/ Humanities/Management/Education or related fields. Ph.D. is desirable but not essential. Depending on the years of experience, the person may be offered the position of Professor of Practice. Retired persons from industry/ R&D organizations also will be considered. Professor of Practice posts are not open for those who are in teaching profession.

Candidates demonstrating their ability to devote full-time service to the Institute shall be accorded preference during the selection process.

Terms & Conditions:

• Duration of the Assignment: Initially 1 year, extendable up to 3 years or up to the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier. The extension after 1 year will be based on performance and on the recommendation of the committee.
• Remuneration: For Full Time PoP - Rs. 1,59,100/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Nine Thousand) only per month fixed.

For Part Time PoP - Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) only per day for the days of academic/research participation at the Institute, excluding the days of travel.

• Accommodation: As per Institute norms, subject to availability.
• Persons appointed as Professor of Practice will have no right or claim for regular appointment or continuance of the post in NIT Meghalaya.
• The Institute has the right to terminate the positions at any stage, circumstances.
